Frank Sy, DMD, MS DAPD
Dr. Frank Sy is a periodontist in private practice, specializing in managing periodontal disease and implant dentistry. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology.
Dr. Sy completed his dental degree at Boston University School of Dental Medicine, went on to a general practice residency at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, NY, and later, specialized in periodontics and implant dentistry at New York University College of Dentistry.
Since completing his specialty training, Dr. Sy has pursued advanced education in his field. He earned a Master’s in Orofacial Pain and Oral Medicine from USC Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry and continues to expand his expertise with programs at the Kois Center and Pankey Institute. His dedication to continuous learning includes advanced training at the Pikos Institute, Dr. Pat Allen’s Center for Advanced Dental Education, and the VISTA Institute, focusing on innovations in hard and soft tissue grafting. His commitment to professional growth has also earned him a Fellowship with the Academy of General Dentistry and was awarded the rank of Fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy by his peers. In addition to these honors, Dr. Sy is also a member of the American Academy of Periodontology, Academy of Osseointegration, Western Society of Periodontology and Academy of General Dentistry.
Outside of his practice, Dr. Sy enjoys serving the dental community and those in need. He teaches as a volunteer assistant adjunct professor of clinical dentistry at USC, working in both the Division of Diagnostic Sciences and the Division of Dental Public Health with the Special Patients Clinic. Dr. Sy also volunteers with Tzu-Chi International Medical Association, providing dental care for underserved communities in Southern California. His outreach work extends to programs such as Remote Area Medical, the Special Olympics, and the Wealth by Health Foundation. He also serves as Vice President of the Chinese American Dental Society of Southern California and hosts a dental study club for local practitioners in the San Gabriel Valley. In his remaining time, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, watching LA sports, and learning history.
