He is board certified by both the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS) and the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine (ABDSM).
He completed his undergraduate studies in biology and psychology at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). Upon graduation, he attended the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) for his dental training. It was during that time that he became interested in maxillofacial reconstruction, which prompted him to pursue his dreams of becoming an oral surgeon. This ultimately led him back to Los Angeles, where he would go on to earn his medical degree and complete his oral & maxillofacial surgery residency at the University of Southern California (USC). During his training, he had extensive experience in anesthesia, trauma, emergency medicine, craniofacial surgery, reconstructive surgery, and dentoalveolar / implant surgery.
Upon completion of residency, he was accepted as a clinical instructor and fellow within the Stanford University Department of Otolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery. It was here that he expanded his surgical skills to include functional nasal surgery / rhinoplasty, skeletal / jaw surgery, and neurostimulator surgery for treatment of sleep apnea.
He has authored numerous textbook chapters and published his work in leading journals within the field. His clinical interests include maxillofacial reconstruction, skeletal surgery for jaw deformities, and nasal surgery to improve breathing.
He is currently the chief of oral and maxillofacial surgery at Los Angeles General Medical Center..
